Bengkulu, the best place to observe solar eclipse

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BENGKULU – Do you happened to be in Bengkulu tomorrow afternoon? If you do, you'll be lucky to have the chance to watch ring of fire solar eclipse. Bengkulu is named one of 10 province considered as the best place to observe this annual nature phenomenon.

Head of the Observation and Information Section of the BMKG Office in Bengkulu, Sudiyanto, said the magnitude of the ring of fire eclipse, the largest observed in Indonesia is 0.066 at Kalianda, Lampung Province.

"The largest magnitude observed from Kalianda, Lampung, but the longest eclipse observed from Manna, Bengkulu for 34 minutes 30.1 seconds," Sudiyanto said.

According to him, the first contact ring of fire eclipse in Indonesia will occur in Pacitan, East Java, at 5: 26 pm then it will pass to other areas. While the peak of the eclipse first observed in Seai, Mentawai Islands, West Sumatra at 5:52 pm and next it will across to other locations in Sumatra Island.

After the peak of eclipse, the sunset will be seen in all the cities in Lampung and several cities in South Sumatra and Bengkulu. "Last contact also can be observed in Kepahiang Bengkulu at 6:06 pm," he said.

In addition to Kepahiang and Manna, ring of fire eclipse will be observed in a number of areas in Bengkulu, among others Argamakmur, Karang Tinggi, Bengkulu City, Curup, and Bintuhan in the border of Lampung province.

BMKG said in Indonesian areas, ring of fire solar eclipse can be observed from the 124 cities and counties in 10 provinces, namely southern West Sumatra, Bengkulu, southeastern South Sumatra, Lampung, Banten, Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, Yogyakarta, and western East Java. This will be the final solar eclipse to happened at 2016.
