REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SURABAYA -- The Indonesian Marine Amphibious Reconnaissance Squad (YONTAIFIB) held a joint training session with the US Army Special Force Group in the Lampon Marine Corps War Training Centre in Banyuwangi, East Java, on Monday.
As per a statement issued by the Marine Corps Information Agency and received by Antara, the joint training, termed Balance Lantern Iron 16-2444, was officially opened by the National Military General Commander, Lukman ST. Lukman said the training is part of the scheduled agenda shared by the Indonesian Marine Corps and the US Army Special Force Group.
"The joint training program will bring a lot of benefits and will strengthen the bilateral relationship between Indonesia and the US as well as help gain a better grasp of sharp tactics, techniques and procedures in military operations," he added.
He further explained that the agenda carried out over a span of 33 days is an excellent opportunity to impart individual skills and imbibe the spirit of teamwork. "Cooperation and understanding between both parties will accommodate the aim of this training program which emphasizes new techniques and tactics involved in military operations in land, water and air aspects," he added.
To sustain the joint training, the commander reiterated that a few things need attention, including security in administration and strategy formulation. Maintaining good communication and relationship with the US Army is also important for the Marine Corps, along with recognizing local wisdom, maintaining a harmonious relationship with the people and upholding the pride of an Indonesian Military Marine Corps soldier.
"The security factor is extremely important in order to avoid any accident during the program," he affirmed.
Meanwhile, Training Commander Rivelson Saragih said the Balance Lantern Iron 16-2444 training that will be carried out until September 23 aims to advance technical skills, knowledge as well as operational tactics adopted by the YONTAIFIB personnel.
"Training materials include field practice and in-class theories which include Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC), Helo Insertion, Radio Communication Technique and Combat Patrol," he disclosed.
In terms of field practice, the training featured Marksmanship, Close Quarter Battle, Military Operation In Urban Terrain, Seashore Operations, Swamp Forest Patrol, Helo Insertion, Sea and Jungle Survival and Full Mission Profile.
