REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TOMOHON -- Four friendly countries namely Australia, New Zealand, Japan and China, and ASEAN country members will be participating in Tomohon International Flower Festival (TIFF) on August 8, 2016 in Tomohon, North Sulawesi province.
"There are 27 participants at the flower event. In addition to the friendly countries, there will be ministries, companies, and administrations participating in the festival," Tomohon Mayor Jimmy F. Eman said here Wednesday.
The ministries are tourism, agriculture, lands and spatial planning as well as the National Development Planning Agency.
The festival, under the theme of Enchanting Tomohon, will promote local tourism potential, the mayor said.
"The festival has been on the annual tourism agenda of the Ministry of Tourism. This event belongs to all of us," Jimmy said.
He was optimistic the festival would have a great impact on the locals, especially those in the tourism businesses.
Tomohon is located in the mountainous area of North Sulawesi, which means the temperature is cool.
Tomohon is known for various flowers and has several colorful parks in the center of the city.
Other tourism destinations include Lake Linow, waruga (sarcophagus), Tinoor Waterfall, Doahill, and agritourism in Rurukan, in addition to a wooden house craft center in Woloan, and the amphitheater in Woloan.
