REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SIAK -- Environment and Forestry Minister Siti Nurbaya Bakar has taken water sample of Siak River, from the location not far from the pulp and paper factory. Team has stopped about 15 minutes in the river flow around the area of pulp and paper company in Riau, PT Indah Kiat Pulp and Paper (IKPP) in Perawang, Siak Districts, Riau Province.

"Steps taken is a direct supervision of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry," Siti said on Thursday (21/7).

Water sampling of Siak River  was using a 'water sample' device in a way put it into the water with a depth of a few meters then content of the water examined. She added, the results of water sample that will be tested in laboratory to obtain the results. She said well raw water is colorless and does not smell bad.

"Indeed, according to the rules, there is water quality standard. We will test the sample of Siak River at laboratory and after we know the result, the next steps could be taken," she said.

Siti Nurbaya visit to Riau in commemoration of the world environment day (HLH). Moreover, in a visit that will also be followed by Vice President Jusuf Kalla. The vice president is scheduled to arrive in Pekanbaru on Friday (22/7) to attend HLH in Siak. Commemoration of HLH World will be held in the courtyard of Siak Palace on 23 July 2016.
