Residents happy with Jambi airport being inaugurated by President

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAMBI -- A number of residents of the city of Jambi are feeling proud because the Sultan Taha Airport, Jambi Province will be inaugurated by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) during a visit to Jambi, Thursday.

"I am certainly proud as a citizen of Jambi, because earlier the airport had been completed but wasn't being operated, but now it has finally been inaugurated by the President," said Tati (30) a resident of Mayang, the city of Jambi.

According to her, the inauguration of the airport by President Jokowi will certainly impact the economy of the Jambi community.

"The appearance of the airport terminal from the outside is good, unlike the old terminal. We also hope that the President can build more infrastructure," said Tati, who said she often uses air transportation.

Other residents, such as Siswanto (32), echoed Tati?s sentiments and were happy with the fact that the President had visited Jambi for the third time.

"At least by visiting Jambi, the President could directly see the condition of Jambi," he stated.

President Jokowi had first visited Jambi in 2014 during the presidential election campaign, the second visit was in order to review the smog situation in 2015, and this time it was to attend the summit to mark the National Cooperative Day and to inaugurate the new terminal called Sultan Taha Jambi.

The President was accompanied by a number of officials and ministers of the Cabinet and inaugurated the Sultan Taha Airport Terminal in the parking lot of the airport.

During the ceremony, the President said he hoped that the Sultan Taha Airport terminal could become a successful pilot project for the development of small airports by the government.
