REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BATAM -- The Hang Nadim International Airport in Batam, Riau Islands, continued to witness an influx of Lebaran holiday passengers on Wednesday morning.

"Until 3:30 a.m. local time, on Wednesday, some three thousand prospective passengers have already checked in, while queues for check-in were still long," Hang Nadim Airport spokesman Suwarso remarked.

According to Suwarso, most of the passengers constituted those from other areas who have spent their holidays in Batam, apart from students from Batam returning to their schools in several areas, such as Yogyakarta, Semarang, Surabaya, Jakarta, Padang, Pekanbaru, and Palembang.

"Citilink and Lion Air were the main airlines operating flights from Batam to Yogyakarta, Semarang, Surabaya, Jakarta, Padang, Pekanbaru, and Palembang," Suwarso revealed.

The spokesman noted that in the past few days, the Hang Nadim International Airport was crowded with both arriving and departing passengers.
