Ahok to increase number of apartments in Jakarta

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama to increase number of apartments for residents in Jakarta

"My hope in the 489 anniversary of Jakarta is to have more apartments and therefore we should keep building more,” said Basuki at City Hall, Jakarta, Wednesday (22/6).

According to the man better known as Ahok, with the number of apartments in the capital, government can relocate more people from the slums to a better living condition.

"If we've got a lot of apartments, then the work of relocating the residents to a safer place will be easier. My goal every year is to be able to build 50,000 units of the apartments,” says Ahok.

In addition to the apartments, he also hopes that in the future to be able to build more Integrated Child Friendly Public Spaces that are spread evenly throughout the capital region.

"I would have much like to see Jakarta with more Child Friendly Public Spaces . With this, people would have a place to gather and get to know each other, to share stories as well," said Ahok.

Furthermore, former Member of Parliament was also expected, particularly in the field of transport, so Jakarta will have adequate mass transportation, so that more and more people are leaving private vehicles.

"In the field of transport, of course I hope the congestion continues to decrease. How? by providing adequate mass transportation. Thus, citizens are encouraged to switch to public transport," said Ahok.
