Government searches information about seven Indonesians arrested by Abu Sayyaf

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- As many as seven Indonesians reported become hostages by radical group from the Philippine, Abu Sayyaf. The government has claimed still trying to confirm the information.

"The government wants to make sure the truth of news," Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung said at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, on Wednesday (22/6).

Previously, 14 Indonesian crews of the ship became hostages of Abu Sayyaf. But all Indonesians could be freed unharmed. The government claimed, no ransom was given to Abu Sayyaf. From previous experience, Pramono said that the government already knew what steps should be done if seven citizens confirmed being hostage.

"We have the experience of release the hostages. We have the networking about it," Pramono said.

Indonesian President Koko Widodo (Jokowi), he continued, will hold a meeting with Coordinating Political, Legal and Security Affairs Minister Luhut Pandjaitan,  Foreign Affairs Minister Retno LP Marsudi, the Army Commander, and the four heads of the military staff in Natuna on Thursday (23/6). The meeting will discuss issues of maritime security in the waters of Indonesia in order to piracy case not repeated.
