UI opens two schools for master and doctorate program

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, DEPOK -- University of Indonesia (UI) will open two new educational programs in the coming academic year. Two new programs are from the School of Studies in Environmental Sciences, School of Strategic Studies and Global Studies.

According to the Head of UI Public Relations Rifelly Dewi Astut , these two schools is the result of the development of academic education. "What was previously named as UI Graduate Program," said Rifelly through an official statement on Tuesday (21/6).

Rifelly explained, that prospective new students can select 10 courses for the master level and then one doctoral study programs in two schools through www.penerimaan.ui.ac.id site.

“UI School of Environmental Science study has a study program of Environmental Science and Urban Development Studies for master level. And a doctoral level in Environmental Sciences," she said.

Furthermore, the School of Strategic Studies and Global Studies has eight master's study program on the ladder. According Rifelly, there are 8 programs: the Study of National Security, Terrorism Studies and American Studies, Japanese Area Studies, Gender Studies, Study of Police Science, Middle East and Islamic Studies, and European Studies.

Both of these schools, he expressed, based on a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary approach. Thus, the school could be open to all academicians any major degree program. Teaching and learning of these two schools was still be held at Salemba UI campus.

With this program, Rifelly argued, Indonesia is faced with the challenge of improving the quality and productivity of human resources. Therefore, the current situation needs to be answered and issues of competition at the global level.

In addition, the diversity of this global problem requires a comprehensive treatment and require human resources from a variety of scientific fields. Therefore, he hoped the entire field of science that developed UI could provide new insights.

"And being able to produce human resources who are ready to face the challenges at a national and global level,” he added.
