REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- An earthquake magnitude 6 on the Richter scale jolted the region of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) in Lombok and Sumbawa on Thursday (9/6).

Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) announce the earthquake happen at 11:13 am in location of Lombok, Sumbawa, Bali, and East Java. Head of the Earthquake and Tsunami Mitigation of BMKG, Daryono said, epicenter of tectonic earthquake was located at coordinates 11,42 South Latitude and 116,18 East Longitude, precisely, in the Indian Ocean about 305 kilometers south of Mataram, Lombok, with hypocenter depth of 11 kilometers.

"However, until now there has been no reports of damage as the impact of earthquake," Daryono said on Thursday (9/6).

The epicenter is shallow outside the subduction zone (outer rise). He explained, based on the results of the analysis of source mechanisms, the earthquake had no potential cause tsunami.

"The earthquake not causes a tsunami. Because of the strength and depth of its hypocenter not support the change of the seabed significantly to trigger tsunami," he said.

Southern coastal communities of Sumbawa, Lombok, and Bali are encouraged to remain quiet. From the monitoring BMKG for one hour after the earthquake, there are no aftershocks.
