REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, DENPASAR -- The National Demography and Family Planning Board (BKKBN) Office in Bali province is involving soldiers to familiarize the public with its family planning program.
"Therefore, we hope that the soldiers understand various aspects of demography and family planning programs," chief of the BKKBN Office in Bali, Ida Bagus Wirama, said on the sidelines of a session to impart family planning training to village supervisory non-commissioned officers (Babinsa) from nine districts and municipalities in Bali on Tuesday.
He pointed out that the National Defense Force (TNI) is one of the BKKBN's partners and is considered effective. In fact, both BKKBN and the TNI have had a good relationship for tens of years now.
"Moreover, the presence of babinsa personnel, who have a direct contact with the people, will hopefully help coordinate the efforts to attain the target set by BKKBN," he stated.
To improve the welfare of the people, the family planning efforts must start with when to get married and how many children to have.
"We should ideally aim for a quality family life, taking into account higher education and guaranteed good health," he underlined.
The BKKBN Office in Bali this year had set a target of attracting 64,700 new family planning participants. By the end of May, 40 percent had been achieved.
