West Kalimantan increases in electricity by 120MW

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID PONTIANAK -- West Kalimantan will have an additional 120 Mega Watt (MW) of electricity. The groundbreaking ceremony was recently conducted by President Joko Widodo. President Jokowi did groundbreaking four-generation Mobile Power Plant (MPP) with a total capacity of 100 Mega Watt (MW) in the village of Jungkat, Mempawah district.

This power plant is using gas-fired power Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) that is both environmentally friendly and more efficient to use. Later, this plant will strengthen the electrical system of the equator and increase power capacity to 425 MW supply. While peak until the end of December 2016 is estimated at 325 MW so that there will be a power reserve of 100 MW or about 30 percent.

MPP Kalbar has a contract value of 75.360 million dollars, consisting of four units with a capacity of each unit by 25 MW. This plant is targeted to supply the electricity that is connected to the system via the substation equator Parit Baru in September 2016.

"Certainly when the plant can be completed quickly, the electricity needs can be met," said Jokowi.

Jokowi also expressed about the difficulty of land acquisition that often occur. Jokowi hope the community can fully cooperate so that this factor has always been a barrier to development of electricity infrastructure can be resolved.

On the sidelines of the groundbreaking MPP Kalbar 100 MW, also performed the inauguration of a steam power plant (power plant) Ketapang in Sukabangun the total capacity of 20 MW. The first unit with a capacity of 10 MW has been successfully entered into the system 20 kV network Ketapang in March 2016.

While the second unit is planned to be entered into the system by the end of this June.So that the system will be an additional power supply of 20 MW in  Ketapang . Commercial units 1 and 2 power plant is scheduled to Ketapang ready for commercial operation (COD) in August 2016.

State Electricity Company’s President Director Sofyan Basir said Established increase of supply capacity at the Equator system will encourage positive economic growth in the industrial sector, businesses and households, especially in the area of Pontianak, Mempawah, Singkawang, Sambas and Bengkayang.

Sofyan added with increasing power capacity, plants owned State Electricity Company Ketapang Area is expected to create conditions for Kayong electricity in the country to keep getting better and provide a positive economic impact for the community in Ketapang and North Kayong.
