REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SURABAYA -- A flood triggered by three hours of heavy rains inundated several areas in the East Java provincial capital of Surabaya early Tuesday.

"The rain this time was so heavy that my motorcycle had trouble engine when I rode through knee-deep flood water in Pucang area," local resident Zakiyah said.

The flood inundated a number of roads including Jl. Semarang, Jl. Kartini, Jl. Panglima Sudirman, Jl. Demak, Jl.Ciliwung and Jl.Mayjend Sungkono, Antara observed.

Houses in several areas including those in Mulyorejo were also flooded.
