West Java provides Rp 24 billion to clean Citarum River

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG -- West Java Governor Ahmad Heryawan (Aher) said the West Java provincial government prepared budget amount of Rp 24 billion to keep and preserve Citarum River through Citarum Bestari Movement in 2016.

"More than 12 thousand people will participate in the Citarum Bestari Movement held at 2 to 8 June, 2016. The budget is prepared amount Rp 24 billion," Aher said, on Friday (27/5).

He said besides cleaning action of stem and seven upstream of Citarum River for six days later it will educate people not to throw garbage and waste rampantly. The invitation, he continued, contained in ‘No Movement’ related to protecting the Citarum River that the first not cutting down trees in the surrounding area.

"We urge people not to cut trees. The existence of this tree is very important so that more water will be absorbed," he said.

Then, Aher continued, the people encouraged to not dispose of animal waste, not to dispose household waste, not throw of industrial waste, and not littering.

"We are committed together, no trash to Citarum, both physical and non-physical or chemical," he said.

He hope this step it can make no more parties to pollute the Citarum River.

"In the context of this provincial government called a social movement," he said.

It describes the movement of Citarum Bestari is not included with the dredging of the river because this is task for the central government.
