REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, YOGYAKARTA – Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) requested that beef prices should be below Rp 80.000/kilogram (kg) before Eid this year.
"Three weeks ago, I ask to the ministers, I don’t want to know, I want beef prices before Eid should be below Rp80.000/ kg," the Jokowi stated, Monday (23/5).
He said that if other countries can reach meat prices below Rp80.000/kg, Jokowi believe it can happen in Indonesia. Jokowi pointed out the price of beef in Singapore or Malaysia ranges from Rp 50.000 to 55.000 per kg at the retail level. Neverthless, in Indonesia can be Rp120.000-Rp130.000 even rise to Rp150.000/kg before Eid.
"All minister dizzy," Jokowi added.
He added, if in other countries, the beef price can possible, he think it should be done in Indonesia.
"In other countries can do that, we must be able to do the same thing," he said.
