Jokowi says Russia-RI relation should be improved

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SOCHI -- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has discussed efforts to increase Indonesia's palm oil exports to Russia in the bilateral meeting with President Vladimir Putin.

"For trade, we ask the President that our palm oil shipments to Russia can be given good way, and then also can be increased in number," said Jokowi at meeting at the residence of President Putin, Bocharoc Rucey, Sochi, Russia, on Wednesday (18/5).

He said the total Indonesia’s palm oil exports to Russia in 2015 reach 480 million kilobarel that benefit to palm farmers in Indonesia.

Jokowi also praised the bilateral relations between Indonesia and Russia that have been built since 60 years ago.

‘’Our relationship since President Soekarno need to improve again today and I would like to be economic, political, cultural relations have been developed," he said.

Jokowi also said to Putin that Indonesian government intend to buy property in the Moscow as a substitute for the Indonesian Embassy building that being renovated.

President Putin express his appreciation of bilateral meeting with Jokowi, including discussing international issues. Putin also said his country wants to increase the value of trade with Indonesia.

"I hope the Indonesian delegation can feel the hospitality of Russia," he said.

Jokowi President had bilateral meeting with President Putin at Bocharoc Rucey around 18.10 local time and ended at around 21.00 local time.
