REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SABANG -- The Sabang Marine Festival is being held in Sabang, Indonesia's westernmost province of Aceh, on April 26-30, 2016.
The festival is aimed at promoting maritime tourism in Sabang, and in particular, to attract yachts, Head of the Sabang Regional Management Board Fauzi Husin stated here, Tuesday.
At least 20 yachts will participate in the festival, he added.
"The point is that every activity organized during the Sabang Marine Festival 2016 should have a direct impact on the Sabang community, especially in the economic sector, through its tourism," he noted.
The festival will feature wind surfing, paragliding, and cultural and art performances, as well as several competitions, among other things.
Chairman of the organizing committee Fauzi Daud affirmed that the festival was expected to help boost the economy of Sabang's residents.
