PGN to complete pipe project in Batam on May

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (PGN) said it would finish work to expand gas pipe network in Nagoya, Batam next month.

Dilo Seno Widagdo, a director of the state-owned gas distributor, said the 18.3 kilometer gas pipes would supply gas to subscribers including shopping centers, restaurants, hotels, and factories on the bonded zone island.

"Work has been more than 90 percent completed and in May it would be finished," Dilo said.

Apart from Nagoya, construction of gas pipe networks for city gas is now in the final phase for 4,000 household customers in the Batu Ali area in Batam.

"Installation of the 4,000 connections to 4,000 households would be finished this year," Dilo said.

Dilo said currently PGN operates 123 kilometers of gas pipes in Batam.

"Completion of the distribution pipes in Nagoya would bring the total to 141.3 km." he said.

In Batam, PGN supplies natural gas for 672 subscribers including 39 factories, 36 commercial units such as restaurant n and hotels, and 597 households.

Altogether in the country PGN supplies gas for 107,690 household subscribers, 1,857 units of small industries, shopping malls , restaurants and hotels, and 1,529 large factories and power plants.
