REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- A number of Palestinian families living near the Al Aqsa/Al Haram Al Sharif Mosque have called on the media, politicians and anti-Zionist fighters to oppose the construction of a Torah Garden in the holy place, said a press statement received from the Indonesian Embassy in Amman, Jordan, by Antara here on Thursday.
According to a Palestinian Kasem Abu Daih, who was a participant in a tourism training exercise organized by the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2015, Jewish extremists have always threatened to destroy the homes of Palestinians to build the garden in order to remove Arabic and Islamic identities from Al-Aqsa.
The Palestinians have called for the Al-Aqsa issue to be highlighted in the international community. This call will get far greater support after the Friday prayer.
Kasem explained that one of the residents whose home was threatened to be destroyed said the Israeli government intends to evict them from their land and homes to build the public Torah gardens in Al-Aqsa.
The violation of the Palestinians' rights has also been reported by the Palestinian Foreign Minister, Riad Al Maliki to the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (IPHRC-OIC) Commissioners, who recently visited Ramallah.
Minister Riad said the Israeli government had systematically made the holy city of Jerusalem a Jewish city to obliterate Arab and Islam identities.
He added that the Israeli army continues to narrow and restrict the activities of Palestinians, as well as to displace them from the holy city to strengthen the Jewish presence there.
In addition, the Israelis have continued to storm Al-Aqsa Mosque under the protection of the Israeli authorities.
