REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Tourism Minister Arief Yahya has praised the governors who are conducting tourism promotion to attract tourists to witness the total solar eclipse, which will cross 12 provinces on March 9, 2016.

"The governors are optimizing tourism promotion ahead of the total solar eclipse that will cross 12 provinces in Indonesia as this is a rare opportunity that occurs once every 350 years," Minister Yahya stated via an electronic mail, received here on Thursday.

The tourism minister, who penned the book "Great Spirit, Grand Strategy," stated that the "Indonesia Incorporated" spirit was evident in welcoming the total solar eclipse that will cross the provinces of West and South Sumatra; Jambi; Bengkulu; Bangka-Belitung; West, South, Central, and East Kalimantan; West and Central Sulawesi; and North Maluku.

"Tour and travel agents and managers have also demonstrated good creativity. They are offering various travel packages during the total solar eclipse," the minister remarked.
