REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BATAM -- Indonesia's central government will build three seaports in buffer islands and the main island of Batam city in Riau Islands Province so that people living in coastal regions find more access.
"This year, the government will build three ports, using special allocation funds," head of Batam transportation office Zulhendri stated here on Monday.
The ports will be built in Pulau Aweng, Pulau Teluk Sunti and Punggur Pulau Batam.
According to him, the city government has completed preparations of the Detailed Engineering Design, and is awaiting the construction tender.
Zulhendri further said the Batam government is serious about constructing infrastructure facilities in the buffer islands.
