REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) was scheduled to attend ASEAN-US Summit that will be held in Sunnyland, California, United States (US) on 15 until 16 February.

"Insya Allah, President Jokowi will attend," Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsoedi said at the Presidential Palace on Monday (1/2).

Retno said that the ASEAN-US Summit is a major event for Indonesia. Therefore, Indonesia as a part of ASEAN had a strategic partnership with US since October 2015. In addition, other countries in ASEAN would also joint this event.

So far, Retno explained that plan of this working visit still need to finalize. She wasn't sure if President Jokowi will have another visit in US after that event.

Earlier, President Jokowi and a number of cabinet ministers had made a working visit to Washington DC, US in October 2015. In that visit, he also did bilateral meeting with US President Barack Obama. Nevertheless, President Jokowi must return to Indonesia earlier than scheduled because forest fire problems.
