REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Recently, the death of Mirna Wayan Salihin (27) after drinking coffee that contains cyanide poison has became a public attention.

Since she died on January 6, the police haven’t revealed who the perpetrators that poured a poison in Mirna's coffee.

According to police observer Bambang Widodo Umar, the death case because of poison was very rare in Indonesia. He saw similarity to Munir Said Thalib case, died on 7 September 2004.

"I think Munir death was the first case that involved a poison," Bambang told Republika on Thursday (28/1).

Munir died two hours before landing in Amsterdam, Netherlands. After the investigation has conducted by Forensic Laboratory Indonesian Police, they found toxins in Munir's body. This evidence was also reinforced by the Netherlands Forensic Institute, which proves he died because of arsenic poison.

"Until now, the main perpetrator in Munir case isn't revealed. Just like Mirna case that seems so convoluted," Bambang added.

Neverthless, he hoped that Mirna case doesn't end up like Munir case. Bambang also prayed that the investigators team can find and uncover the true perpetrators.

Mirna died after drinking coffee at Olivier Cafe, Central Jakarta. One of her friends, Jessica arrived at the scene earlier and ordered sazerac cocktail and Vietnamese coffee.

Minutes after, Mirna and her other friend, Hani arrived at the cafe. She later proceeds to drink coffee.

Shortly afterwards, she suffered from convulsions and began to foam at the mouth. She was rushed to the hospital, but died on arrival.
