REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Ministry of Communication and Informatics has blocked a number of radical websites and social media accounts supporting acts of terrorism, following terror attacks in Jakarta on Thursday.

"After monitoring and receiving reports from the community regarding the owners of social media accounts that supported the Sarinah bomb attacks on January 14, the Ministry of Communication and Informatics decided to block them," the office's head of information and public relations, Ismail Cawidu, said in a text message received by Antara here on Saturday.

Seven people were killed in Thursday's terror attacks, including five of the attackers and two civilians, of whom one was a Canadian national and the other an Indonesian citizen.

More than 20 people, including five police officers, were injured in the terror attack.

The social media accounts and radical sites which have been blocked include Facebook accounts under the names of Muhammad Subkhan Khalid, Batalion Inghimasi and Mujahidah Sungai Eufrat.

The ministry also blocked http:// telegram.me/jihadmedia01, saying that "some social media platforms blatantly supported the terror actions," he said.

The websites that were blocked are bahrunaim.co, dawlahislamiyyah.wordpress.com, keabsahankhilafah.blogspot.co.id., khilafahdaulahislamiyyah.wordpress.com, tapaktimba.tumblr.com, thoriquna.wordpress.com, tauhiddjihat.blogspot.co.id, gurobahbersatu.blospot.co.id, bushro2.blogspot.co.id, mahabbatiloveislam.blogspot.co.id and azzam.in.

"With regard to the bahrunnaim video and account, the Ministry of Informatics and Communication has already deleted it," he said.

The concerned account belonged to Muhammad Bahrunnaim Anggih Tantomo.

The police have named Bahrun Naim as the one behind the attacks on Thursday. He is believed to be living in Syria now.

Apart from them, the Ministry of Communication and Informatics has also blocked twitter accounts @kdmedia16 and @globalkdi.

Among the radical video accounts blocked until 2015, 78 involved ISIS' radicalism videos.

"To facilitate a check on radical accounts that are still found broadcasting on the internet, we hope for public participation and people can report these to the Ministry of Informatics and Communication at the email "[email protected]".
