Envoy praises alumni association for contribution to RI-Qatari ties

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, LONDON -- Indonesian Ambassador to Qatar Deddy Saiful Hadi has praised the Alumni Association of University of Indonesia (ILUNI-UI) of Qatari chapter for their contribution to enhancing ties between the two countries particularly in the oil field.

Deddy offered the appreciation at a get-together held by the ILUNI UI of Qatari chapter in Banana Island Resort, Qatar, recently, Boy Dharmawan, political counselor of the Indonesian embassy in Doha, said in a statement received by an Antara correspondent based in London on Sunday.

The ambassador whose term of office will end later this month also used the event to say farewell.

In his address, Deddy warmly welcomed the get-together held before he ended his four years of assignment in Qatar and hoped the event would forge friendship between members of ILUNI UI of Qatar chapter and other members of the Indonesian community in the country.

Established on October 1, 2012, the ILUNI UI of Qatari chapter which groups alumni of University of Indonesia in Qatar is one of the Indonesian diaspora communities.

Most of the alumni are working in various main sectors in Qatar, particularly the oil and gas sectors. This community has played an active role in social, cultural and sport activities in the interests of the Indonesian community in Qatar.
