REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAYAPURA -- An earthquake measuring 5.0 on Richter scale shook Pania District, Papua, at 8:53 a.m. local on Sunday.

The Meteorological, Climatological and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said the earthquake took place about 30 km northeast of Paniai.

Its epicenter was located at a depth of 10 kilometers and at 3.56 degrees southern latitude and 136.6 degrees eastern longitude.

There is no immediate report on casualties and losses incurred by the earthquake.
