REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PANGKAL PINANG -- The Culture and Tourism Office in Bangka-Belitung (Babel) province has urged hotels in the province to promote the region's distinctive culture.
"At least once a week, the hotels should hold Babel's distinctive art and cultural performances to attract more guests and to increase tourist arrivals in the province," local Culture and Tourism Office Chief K.A. Tajuddin stated here on Wednesday.
He reiterated that the typical art and cultural performances of Babel will serve as an attraction for foreign and domestic tourists to visit the province.
"Most tourists staying at hotels in Babel can at least recognize the typical regional cultural arts such as measles, dambus, and others traditional dance forms," Tajuddin remarked.
He noted that showcasing the area's art and cultural performances will boost the image of local tourism both nationally and internationally.
"We expect that the management of the hotels will make it mandatory to include local art and cultural performances as part of their agenda in order to improve the services offered to their guests," he affirmed.
Tajuddin said that during this time, several domestic and foreign tourists are unfamiliar with the distinctive art and culture of the people of Babel islands as the hotels seldom hold art and cultural performances.
"With cultural performances being organized at the hotels as often as possible, the tourists will not just come to enjoy the beauty of nature but will also be able to experience the traditional art and culture of the people in this area," he added.
