REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesia suggested that conflict between Saudi Arabia and Iran to be resolved through OIC conference. According to Vice President Jusuf Kalla, Indonesian Foreign Minister has communicated it with Iran and Saudi Foreign Ministers, and also Secretary General of OIC to discuss the conflict.
"Indonesia requested it to be resolved by OIC summit," said JK in Vice President office, Jakarta, Tuesday (5/1).
Furthermore, JK said Indonesia hoped that this conflict could soon be resolved, so as not to cause war.
"Because the conflict was started from religious problem, we can resolve it with spirit of togetherness in religion," JK added.
He stated, the problem was triggered by the difference between Shiites and Sunnis that has recently occurred. Therefore, after Saudi executed Shia cleric Nimr al-Nimr, most of Iranian conducted a massive protest until combustion occurred.
