REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Constitutional Court (MK) has received six lawsuits challenging the results of the gubernatorial elections held in December 2015.
The lawsuits were filed by pairs of gubernatorial candidates in the provinces of West Sumatra, Central Sulawesi, North Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, Bengkulu and Riau Islands, spokesman for the Constitutional Court, Budi Ahmad Johari, said here on Tuesday.
The court had kept open the process to register lawsuits against the results of regional head elections till December 26 last year. It received a total of 147 lawsuits from pairs of regional head candidates in 132 regions.
According to the court, 125 of the 147 lawsuits were filed by pairs of district head candidates, 11 by pairs of mayoral candidates, six by pairs of gubernatorial candidates, and one by the election monitoring committee.
Indonesia organized simultaneous elections for the first time ever in 264 regions on December 9 to elect district heads, city mayors and provincial governors.
