REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The management of Ancol Dream Land is optimistic of witnessing a 500 percent increase in the number of visitors on the first day of January 2016.

The number of visitors might reach 150 thousand, compared to 30 thousand on a working day, Communication Manager of PT Pembangunan Jaya Ancol Rika Lestari stated here, Friday.

On New Year's Eve, some 200 thousand people flocked to the recreational center of Ancol, she said.

The Fantasy World (Dufan) and Sea World are among the favorite spots in Ancol.

On a regular day, some four to five thousand people visit Dufan or the Sea World, and on January 1, the Ancol management hopes that the two attractions would draw at least 10 thousand visitors.

The number of security personnel has doubled to five thousand people from two thousand on a working day.

Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama and Jakarta Police Chief Inspector General Tito Karnavian were present during the New Year celebrations in Ancol on Thursday evening.

In the meantime, President Joko Widodo attended "a people's party" to celebrate New Year's Eve in Raja Ampat District in West Papua Province on Thursday evening.

The event was held at the Waisai Beach and was enlivened by top singers, such as Edo Kondologit, who is originally from Papua.
