In 2015, earthquake shakes Indonesia 4,866 times

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Data of Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) stated that during 2015, earthquakes occurred in Indonesia as much as 4,866 times.

The data collection was conducted from one to 9.5 on the Richter scale (RS). While the depth of the earthquake (depth range) was recorded from one to 1,000 km.

During December 2015, BMKG recorded the earthquake epicenter, among others, in Southwestern of Seram II, Ambon, on Tuesday (29/12) at 01:02:53 local time with magnitude of 2.8 RS. In the previous day, Monday (28/12), earthquake occurred at 23:26:03 local time with magnitude of 5.2 RS and the epicenter was 64 km Southwestern Seram III-IV, Ambon.

An earthquake measuring 4.6 RS also occurred on Friday (25/12) at 12:00:13 local time. The epicenter was 40 km northeast Tarakan III Tanjung Selor. On the same day, an earthquake measuring 5.9 RS occurred at 6:10:58 local time. The epicenter was 242 km Northwest of West Southeast Maluku.

Moreover, an earthquake occurred on Tuesday (22/12) at 20:50:05 local time. The epicenter was in the sea 63 km Northwest Takalar, Makasar. In the same day, an earthquake also occurred at 14:28:36 local time. The epicenter was in the sea 77 km southwest of Pidie, Aceh.
