REPUBLIKA.CO.ID JAKARTA -- Aircraft accident happened in air force event of Gebyar Dirgantara 2015, which took place at Adisucipto air base, Yogyakarta, Sunday (20/12).
Head of Department of Information of Air Force (TNI-AU) Marsma Dwi Badarmanto confirmed the incident. He explained, an Air Force fighter aircraft types T-50i Golden Eagle fell and shattered near the Air Force Academy (AAU) Yogyakarta at 9:53 am, Sunday (20/12) morning. The plane was carrying out aerobatic maneuvers.
The aircraft was flown by Lt. Commander 15 Air Squadron Airmen Marda Sarjono and Flight Captain Dwi Cahyadi (radar interceptor officer). Both died in the accident.
"Clearly, the aircraft experienced a total loss. It will be investigated," said Dwi Badarmanto, during a press conference at Halim Perdanakusumah air base, Jakarta, Sunday (20/12).
He insisted, after information about the accident received, Chief of TNI AU Staff immediately ordered an investigation team to come the location. Dwi said, the investigation team was led by Deputy Chief of TNI AU Staff.
This investigation would uncover the real cause of the accident. Dwi asked public not to speculate, given a few hours after the accident, amateur video came.
"Do not believe the amateur video. It can be used as data, but still there is no conclusion," he added.
