REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The government through Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing planned to build two dams in Bali after the initial flooding of Titab Reservoir. The two reservoirs were Talagabaja Reservoir in karangasem and Sidan Reservoir in Gianyar.

"We have to finish Titab, then continue to build two other. Construction of reservoir in Bali is different, there is a consideration for tourism or rafting arena," said Director General of Water Resources Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing, Mudjiadi in a release, Sunday (13/12).

Up to five years, he added, it was possible to build several new reservoirs. This water reservoir infrastructure still needed to be built to support food security, especially rice, so that Indonesia would not import anymore.

Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing would continue to prepare suitable locations for building reservoirs. The main obstacle of reservoir development was discovery of suitable location, especially in Java.

"Building reservoir requires certain requirements such as geographical and social requirements," he explained.
