Indonesia wins three gold medal in Indonesian Masters 2015

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MALANG -- Indonesia achieved three titles of championship in Yonex-Sunrise Indonesian Masters 2015 on 1st to 6th December 2015. The tournament, which was held in Graha Cakrawala Sport Hall Malang East Java, has recorded achievement of three gold medals and two silver medals for Indonesia.

In the mixed doubles, world third best pair Tontowi Ahmad/Liliyana Natsir a.k.a Owi/Butet were standing on the top of podium after won over another Indonesian mix doubles, Praveen Jordan/Debby Susanto in two straight games with score 21-18, 21-13.

This was the second title for Owi/Butet in 2015. Previously, the pair became the champion of Asia 2015 in Wuhan, China.

"We are grateful for this title. Hopefully this achievement could increase our motivation and confidence," said Tontowi after final round of Indonesian Masters, through a release of PBSI received by Republika.co.id.

In men's doubles, Berry Angriawan/Ryan Agung Saputra won a gold medal after defeating a Chinese pair, Chai Biao/Hong Wei. Berry/Ryan won the match in two games with score 21-11, 22-20.

After becoming champions in this tournament that offered a total prize of 120 thousand US dollars, Berry/Ryan would focus to play in National Championship which would be held next week.

"This is our second title in international tournaments this year. We wanted to be in the top 10 world rankings," said Rian.

Furthermore, a men's singles player, Tommy Sugiarto, add a title after after beating Indian player, K. Srikanth, through rubber games 17-21, 21-13, 24-22. This was the fourth meeting of the two.

After this tournament, Tommy was still waiting to hear from Badminton World Federation (BWF) whether he could compete in Super Series Finals, which would be held in Dubai this month.
