Indonesia targets to invest in Chinese electronic and automotive

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, INCHEON -- The government was targeting investments in electronics and automotive industries of China. Target investment to China has become the main agenda of Minister of Industry, Saleh Husin, in a working visit to China on 3rd to 8th December 2015.

During his visit, Saleh visited automotive industry SAIC-GM Wuling (SGMW) and Hisense electronic industry.

"Electronic industry and transportation equipment industry are part of priority industries. This leading sectors is expected to be main driver of growth in industry and national economy," Saleh said, in a statement, Thursday (3/12).

Saleh hoped, from the investment there would be transfer of knowledge and technology for development of electronic products in Indonesia. Saleh explained, Hisense has 17 production facilities spread across China, South Africa, Algeria, and Egypt. For mobile phones, Hisense was able to produce 15 million units per year and Indonesia was the largest market of the mobile phone products.

Saleh said, in Indonesia Hisense products was known through Andromax. Previously the company has also been presented through TV Polytron.

In addition, in August 2015, SGMW has done groundbreaking for the construction of a car assembly factory worth 700 million US dollars in Cikarang, Bekasi, West Java.
