World Rafting Championship in Bandung followed by 23 countries

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SUKABUMI -- A total of 23 countries sent representatives to participate in World Rafting Championship (WRC) 2015 in Citarik River, Sukabumi, West Java. The event was held to promote rafting and tourism in Indonesia.

"This event is our motivation to promote rafting tourism here," said Chairman of Federation of Rafting Indonesia (FAJI), Major General Marine Buyung Lalana, Monday (30/11).

According to Buyung, there were hundreds of athletes who participated in WRC 2015. Among of them were from the United States, Argentina, Australia, Costa Rica, Italy, the Netherlands, Japan, Russia, Slovenia, Slovakia, Brazil, Turkey, Indonesia, and Malaysia.

Buyung explained, as a host, Indonesia should make success of the event and give comfort to athletes from around the world. This event was expected to give a good impression when the athletes return home.

Citarik River was chosen for WRC since it already meets international standards and has complete facilities. Indonesia has many rafting location, Buyung added, but the facilities did not complete yet.
