Two investors to invest in special economic zones Tanjung Api-Api

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, NUSA DUA -- Two potential investors from local and foreign committed to invest in Special Economic Zones (SEZ) Tanjung Api-Api, South Sumatra. Governor of South Sumatra, Alex Noerdin, said the two investors are PT Indorama and Dubai Port Authority Corporation.

"Dubai Port is a major investors who will develop deep sea port in Tanjung Api-Api," said Alex, in Nusa Dua, Bali, Friday (27/11).

He explained, Dubai Port Authority Corporation has experienced as a port operator, such as in Jebel Ali Port in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE). Tanjung Api-Api then would become a strategic economic region that is integrated with electricity network, railway, and highway. PT Pelindo as a state-owned enterprise of national port, already completed its study related to the development of this port.

Meanwhile, local company PT Indorama would build alumina smelters in the same region. These smelters required electrical energy reached 1,250 mega watts (MW). Tanjung Api-Api would also be equipped with a steam power plant with a capacity of 2x150 MW.

Special Economic Zones of Tanjung Api-Api was a part of three specific area development projects in Sumatra and Java. The government allocated investment value for the three areas of Rp 30.5 trillion.
