REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Rita Subowo officially handed over leadership of Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI) to Erick Thohir. Rita expected that his successor was able to maintain the existence of KOI as the only National Olympic Committee (NOC).
"Finally, the handover can be realized, please maintained KOI as the only NOC," said Rita, after the handover at the Office of KOI Senayan, Jakarta, Monday (23/11).
A woman who led KOI for two periods, was optimistic that Erick is able to face two big celebration that must be prepared, namely Rio de Janeiro Olympiad in 2016 and as host of Asian Games 2018.
"In addition, there is also Asian Youth Games 2017. Everything should be well prepared. It requires cooperation for success of this great event," she added.
Related to preparation of Asian Games 2018, Rita said Indonesia must prepare three things: athlete building, swimming pool, and velodrome for bicycle race.
Meanwhile, Chairman of KOI, Erick Thohir, said that heavy duty is already waiting. With the persistence of all members of KOI who continue to work hard, he was optimistic to be able to carry out the task well.
"Hopefully it will be not hard. We hope for their commitment until four years," he said.
KOI led by Erick, currently focuses of preparing a master plan, namely Asian Games 2018 in Jakarta and Palembang. Furthermore, he also will have a meeting with Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) in Jakarta, 27th to 28th November.
