Indonesia-South Korea develop one village one product program

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesia, through the Ministry of Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises (KemenUKMK), along with the South Korea Embassy in Jakarta, is working together to support the One Village One Product (OVOP) program.

"I hope we can cooperate to increase the available commodities in each region through a developed and integrated system so this program can work," South Korea Ambassador for Indonesia Cho Taiyoung said at the "CSR Excellence Awards" here, Tuesday.

He explained that the final goal of the cooperation is to develop the ability of the community, so it might encourage the independent development of villages.

Moreover, it is expected that communities might develop the ability and competence to create strategic entrepreneurship.

OVOP is a special activity that has been designed so that Korean-Indonesian governments and Korean companies in Indonesia might cooperate to develop potential commodities in every region in a systematic, measurable and organized way.

At the same time, Deputy for UKMK Resources Studies KemenUKMK Meliadi Sembiring stated that the bilateral cooperation will seek to advance the OVOP program in villages throughout Indonesia.

"This cooperation is useful to help increase independent incomes from regions that are helped by Korean companies in Indonesia," Meliadi noted.

Meanwhile, the Korean Trade and Investment promotions Board (Kotra) committed to boost OVOP products through online selling in the international arena.

Kotra promised to invited more South Korean companies to expand the success of OVOP in order to build the economies of Indonesian villages.
