REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesian Police Chief General Badrodin Haiti has ordered beefed-up security at the French and other foreign embassies and consulates in the country in response to Friday's terrorist attacks in Paris.
"The national police chief's instruction to the provincial police chiefs to tighten the French and other foreign premises is made on the day the Paris attacks happened," Spokesman of the police headquarters Senior Commissioner Suharsono said here Sunday.
General Badrodin Haiti also instructed his men to increase their early detection of security threats on vital objects, including shopping malls and entertainment centers, by intensifying routine security patrol there, he said.
Suharsono, however, called on people in Indonesia not to be affected by the Paris attacks that killed at least 129 people and caused 352 others to get injured.
"Please contact the police if you see suspicious people in your neighborhood. By doing so, we can anticipate any unwanted eventuality," he said.
The Indonesian Government condemned the string of attacks in Paris and asked Indonesians living there to remain cautious.
