REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesian Embassy in Damascus, Syria, repatriated 23 Indonesian migrant workers via Damascus International Airport. 15 migrant workers came from West Java and five others came from Banten.
"In Damascus, 42 migrants still fought for their rights and still continued to came to Indonesian Embassy in Damascus," said Ambassador of Indonesian Embassy in Damaskus, Djoko Harjanto, in a press release, Friday (6/11).
Until now, Indonesian Embassy in Damascus had repatriated 12,871 Indonesian migrant workers from Syria since the civil war began in 2011. Djoko said, this program was still ongoing and he still sought to repatriate migrant workers in various regions in Syria.
The current security situation in Syria was getting worse. So that the repatriation of workers was always provided assistance. The Embassy also would cooperated with Directorate for the Protection of Indonesian Citizens and Legal Entities, Ministry of Foreign Affairs to assist the repatriation process.
