REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PERTH -- Australian Prime Minister, Malcolm Turnbull, was planned to visit Indonesia and Germany next week. The visit would be his first state visit since being elected as Australian Prime Minister, on 15th September 2015.

Turnbull was scheduled to meet President Joko Widodo on 12th November to discuss trade, investment, and security-related issues.

The relationship of the two neighboring countries, Indonesia and Australia, was disrupted after drug dealers duo Chan and Sukumaran were executed. On the trade side, the Indonesian government had decided to suspend imports of live cattle from Australia.

Relations between Indonesia and Australia also worsened after Australia issued a policy to refuse boats of asylum seekers. In the era of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, bilateral relation of Indonesia-Australia was also disturbed by the Australian wiretapping scandal against Indonesian government officials.

Turnbull and his government sought to rebuild harmony of the two countries and it was appreciated by many parties in Indonesia.
