6.2 magnitude earthquake strikes Alor

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, ALOR -- 6.2-magnitude earthquake struck northeast Alor, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), on Wednesday (4/11) at 10:44 am local time. The location of the earthquake was 28 kilometers northeast Alor, 8.20 south latitude and 124.94 east longitude.

Head of Data Information and Public Relations of National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, said the earthquake occurred at a depth of 89 kilometers and there was no potential of tsunami.

"The quake was felt strongly for 8-11 seconds in Alor district. Some people were panicked and scattered. While in the Timur Tengah Utara district, the earthquake was felt weak for 6-8 seconds," he wrote on message, Wednesday (4/11).

Currently, BNPB post was still analyzing the earthquake and its impact. There had not been any report of casualties and property damages.
