REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TOKYO -- Former Chairman of Muhammadiyah, Din Syamsuddin, met two Japanese figures, namely former Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda and special envoy of Prime Minister of Japan for Southeast Asia, Yutaka Iimura.

In the discussion with them, Din caught Japan's disappointment over the "cancellation" of fast train project Jakarta-Bandung route by Indonesian Government.

"However, bilateral relations between the two countries is too expensive to be sacrificed just because of one project," Din said, in a press statement to Republika.co.id, Thursday (29/10).

Moreover, he added, Japan was the largest investor in Indonesia. Both leaders agreed that Japan-Indonesia have vital and strategic cooperation in directing East Asia region to become prosper.

Din was in Japan for an eight-day visit at invitation of Sasakawa Peace Foundation, an institute under Nippon Foundation in Japan. Sasakawa Peace Foundation since last year, invited a figure of Asia as a guest of honor in the program of Opinion Leaders of Asia.

During his stay in Japan, Din was scheduled to visit Tokyo, Hiroshima, Kyoto and Kobe. He hoped that educational  and trade cooperation that have been established so far can be further improved.
