REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PADANG -- The Government would soon realize the construction of Trans Sumatra toll roads Padang-Bukittinggi segment at the end of 2015. Construction of Padang-Bukittinggi toll roads along 80 kilometer (km) was estimated to require a budget of Rp 8 trillion, with calculations of Rp 100 billion per kilometer.

"We can start the construction by the end of this year," said Minister of State-Owned Enterprises, Rini Soemarno, in Padang, West Sumatra, Wednesday (28/10).

She stated, the budget of Rp 8 trillion was not including land acquisition. Rini hoped all parties could coordinate, so that the construction of Trans Sumatra could run smoothly and would be soon operated.

Rini explained, in the first phase of construction of Trans Sumatra, PT Hutama Karya, was already working on four segments of a total of 23 toll roads that pass through nine provinces along the 2,048 km. There are 15 major corridor roads and eight supporter segments.

Currently, there are four segments which are under construction, namely Medan-Binjai along 16.8 km, Palembang-Indralaya along 22 km, Bakauheni-Terbanggi Besar along 150 km, and Pekanbaru-Dumai along 135 km.

Meanwhile, President Director of PT Hutama Karya, I Gusti Ngurah Putra, said that currently he was awaiting for certainty of concessions by the government for the construction of Padang-Bukittinggi toll roads.
