REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, WASHINGTON - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) would discuss four issues during a bilateral meeting with President of the United States (US), Barack Obama. The meeting was scheduled to be held in Oval Office of White House, Monday (26/10) US time.
"The first issue is Indonesia as the largest Muslim country in the world, but at the same time Indonesia also became the largest democracies in the world that is tolerant and pluralistic. So that Indonesia is ready to play a role as a bridge," said Minister of Foreign Affairs, Retno LP Marsudi, during a press conference at Blair House, Washington DC, Sunday (25/10) night.
The second issues was about Indonesian economy which is opened and is poised to cooperate with the US and the world. With an open economy, she added, Indonesia was more easily to cooperate with any countries. Moreover, it was supported by a policy package would greatly assist Indonesia to convey to the world that the Indonesian economy is an open economy.
The third issues was Indonesia as the largest digital market in Southeast Asia which reached 12 billion US dollars in 2014. "That is very significant (increase) than in 2013 which amounted to 8 billion US dollars," she explained.
This achievement was without government intervention. She said, If there was interference from the government, in 2020 Indonesia would become 'the biggest digital market' in Southeast Asia.
The fourth issue that would be discussed was "climate change," seeing both of them are leaders of two great countries. She hoped this meeting could bring benefits to both sides and the world.
