REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Jakarta Education Department has organized the Jakarta Robotics Festival (Robofest) 2015 to commemorate Youth Oath Day and National Technology Day.

"The event is taking place in Jakarta from October 19 to October 21. The participants will take part in a variety of workshops and competitions," Jakarta Education Department Head Arie Budhiman stated here on Monday.

According to Budhiman, the festival involves 330 students from elementary, junior high, and high schools.

"In addition, we have also sought the assistance of 165 teachers. In this competition, we have cooperated with PT Krisna Mukti, which operates in the area of technology, especially robotics," Budhiman affirmed.

The Jakarta governor will present the trophy to the winners in the manual and programmed robot and four-legged robot, with Wi-Fi and infra-red categories.

"This event is intended to boost the creativity of learners, especially the holders of Smart Jakarta Card (KJP), ranging from elementary to high school," he emphasized.

Moreover, the festival could also serve as a training ground for KJP holders to face challenges in the future.

Head of the Jakarta Education Agency for Vocational Schools Suharno pointed out that the event is aimed at introducing science and technology in the field of robotics to the students.

"Thus, the students can easily learn the latest developments in science related to robotics. The festival also helps to realize active, creative, and innovative means of learning," he explained.
