Iran establishes energy cooperation with Indonesia

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TEHRAN -- Iran's Minister of Energy expanded bilateral relations in energy sector with Indonesia in a closed meeting on Wednesday, 14th October 2015. Iran also was ready for further participation of Iranian companies in the energy market of Indonesia

Iran's Minister of Energy, Hamid Chitchian, Indonesian Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Sudirman Said, discussed various ideas to establish cooperation in the field of power generation.

"For Indonesia, increasing the capacity of energy generation is a key strategy in economic development. The approach the Indonesian government is to diversify energy sources and exploit clean and renewable energy such as solar, wind and geothermal resources," said Sudirman Said, in a press statement received by Republika.co.id on Thursday (15/10).

Iran's Deputy Minister of Electricity and Energy, Houshang Falahatian, and  President of MAPNA Group, Abbas Aliabadi, accompanied Chitchian in this meeting. While, Sudirman Said was accompanied by president's special envoy in the Middle East affairs, Alwi Shihab.

This was the second time that Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources of Indonesia Sudirman Said visited Iran during the last six months. He has visited the factory of MAPNA during his first visit.

Sudirman Said stated that this visit was a prelude before Indonesian President's visit to Iran to strengthen bilateral relations and facilitate negotiations in the areas of security and energy distribution.
