REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, DENPASAR -- Tourism sector became the main determinant of Bali's economy condition. During its development, Governor of Bali, I Made Mangku Pastika, said Bali has potential to become center for new type of tourism, namely political tourism.

"Political tourism is different from any kinds of tourism in general," said Pastika, in Denpasar, Monday (5/10).

The idea of political tourism, Pastika explained, came from Bali that often became the host of meeting of political parties in Indonesia, such as National Congress, Regional Congress, and Regional Council.

Bali needs to integrate tourism, trade, and investment sectors through mutually beneficial cooperation between regions, so that it can improve quality and competitiveness. The local government has a strategic role and has been significantly able to accelerate the development of each region.

"Second, infrastructure and human resources of tourism must be considered. Local tourism can be entrance to regional development," he said.

In the period from January to August 2015, foreign tourists who came to Bali reached 2,601,753 people. Most tourists were from Australia, China, Japan, Malaysia, and the UK with a percentage at 24.13 percent, 18.82 percent, 5.50 percent, 4.59 percent, and 3.86 percent.
