Indonesian military strongest in Southeast Asia

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Military observers from Padjadjaran University, Muradi, said that seeing the power of human resources, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) is the strongest military forces in Southeast Asia.

"However, our main defense systems are still far behind Singapore and Malaysia," said Muradi, to Republika, Monday (5/10).

He also pointed out warships and aircraft of the military forces of Malaysia and Singapore which were still under the age of 20 years. Meanwhile, warships and aircraft of Indonesia were mostly under the age of 30 years.

Indonesia, Muradi continued, has advantages in war strategy and number of soldier. It could even make Indonesia entered twelve best military forces in the world.

Global Firepower (GFP), a site that provides analysis of military force of countries in the world, also put Indonesia as 12th country with strongest military in the world. Indonesia's position was right under Israeli and above Australia. With this position, the Indonesian military became the most powerful in Southeast Asia.
